The International Medical Center received institutional accreditation in 2010 for the Higher Medical Education Program for Residents, making it the first private hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to receive this accreditation from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Because the International Medical Center believes that higher medical education is part of its mission and vision, and as a high-quality, comprehensive healthcare provider, it places utmost importance on the training of competent doctors.
Investing in higher medical education ensures that doctors present at the International Medical Center who will become healthcare professionals in the future are equipped with everything needed to meet the growing demands of patients, both locally and globally.
The program began in 2010 with one resident doctor, and 51 doctors have graduated through it so far, the last of them was this year (2020) with 26 doctors, and in October 2020, the new batch of resident doctors was received.
It should be noted that from the total 51 physicians who graduated from the program, 14 of them were appointed to the International Medical Center, noting that the program helps resident physicians find jobs after they graduate from the program.
The higher medical education program aims to monitor and regulate training experiences in residency programs for various medical specialties through flexible curricula for resident physicians, and these curricula are prepared in cooperation with heads of departments of different specialties and directors of residency programs to achieve the goals of: improving the quality of post-bachelor higher medical education, providing objective assessment of residency programs, providing guidance to universities on how to develop new residency programs, assisting program managers in reviewing the performance of their programs and the quality of the education they offer.
It is noteworthy that some Saudi resident physicians obtain a grant from the Ministry of Health.
