Landscapers have a saying to describe newly planted gardens where the result of hard work is not immediately seen: “The first year they sleep, the second year they creep, and the third year they leap!” The work of gardeners closely resembles the building of solid ICD 10 foundation at the International Medical Center.
IMC leaders have proactively dedicated significant effort and support in ICD 10 since four IMC health information technicians started the coding and training journey in 2013. The four technicians' work was like that of a gardener planting the seeds. Throughout the years, IMC’s HIM professionals have adhered to ongoing growth in skills, knowledge, and experience to creep forward in achieving advanced national and international recognition and licensure in clinical coding.
2019 was the year that IMC leapt to a higher level that reaped even greater benefits; IMC was recognized as the first private center to deliver & develop the clinical coding workforce in the Kingdom. Through collaborative effort with the Health academy and under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, IMC expert coders branched out to develop and strengthen the clinical coding workforce in the Kingdom.
The IMC Health Information management department and IMC Academy take great pride in training and developing future coding professionals. For the past two years, they thoroughly guided students into becoming fully trained clinical coders.
