The International Medical Center (IMC) played a significant part in the success of Jeddah Moves, a citywide day of sport to raise awareness about the benefits of running to promote public health as part of the Kingdom’s Quality of Life Program, a step parallel with vision 2030 and the center’s mission of supporting wellbeing for a healthier community.
IMC was the strategic sponsor of the event held on Jeddah’s waterfront in cooperation with the governorate of Jeddah, Jeddah Chamber represented by the Health Care Committee, the Ministry of Sports, Jeddah Municipality, and Masafat Club where thousands of nationals and expats of all ages and abilities hit the ground running and walking at their own pace.
IMC’s took part in the event with a large stand and a team of 20 health care professionals giving out advice to participants on how to practice sports and get healthy nutrition that leads to better and sustainable wellbeing. “The Wheel of Wellbeing” – an interactive tool of the center’s wellbeing project – was used during the event to give participants a chance to determine and evaluate their health issues through the wheel’s indicator and get free health advice from the team on the spot.
IMC helped this event stand out by having 200 running participants taking part in the event under the center’s name side by side with the medical center’s team of 200 volunteers who helped participants make it to the finish line by giving out energy-boosting fruits and wet towels.
Medals for male and female winners were given by Dr. Waleed Fitaihi, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO at the International Medical Center, in addition to free wellbeing genetic test vouchers as awards to participants from the professional category. He also thanked and awarded all IMC’s volunteers for their efforts in making this event a great success.
IMC previously communicated health to participants by sending out health awareness and motivation text messages pre, during, and post event using the center’s latest communication platforms.
The Jeddah Moves initiative aimed at introducing the community to the benefits of sports to wellbeing through organizing various activities across the city including the main walkways in Lulu Square and the additional walkways in the Al-Yamama, Al-Hamdaniya, Al-Rehab, and Al-Nakhil districts.
The outstanding sporting initiative included walking and running races for children and youth, as well as a virtual 10 km walking challenge anyone can take on at any other additional walkway location.
It is worth mentioning that Jeddah’s waterfront promenade is the longest in the Kingdom covering a total length of 4.5 km with 120,000 people capacity. It is designed to the highest standards and features fully equipped special services and sports facilities to meet the needs and expectations of Jeddah’s society.
