The International Medical Center (IMC) in Jeddah participated in the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO) held in Madrid, Spain, through an integrated research project that included a number of research papers and surgery experiences, which was prepared and implemented by a team of resident doctors and specialists from surgery department under the supervision of Dr. Haitham Abbas.
As part of the conference proceedings, Dr. Taher Younis, Consultant Bariatric Surgeon, and Dr. Yasser Tohme, Senior Specialist Bariatric Surgery, presented three research projects on the latest surgical techniques and findings, and these lectures were well attended by the conference attendees. Dr. Walid Bukhari, Senior Consultant of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, General Surgery and Obesity Surgery, reviewed in his lecture at the conference number of complex surgeries he conducted which was positively received by the attendees.
Dr. Taher said that the participation of IMC was not merely an attendance, but rather a productive interaction which proved the significant extent of IMC potentials in the techniques of surgery, especially in the field of bariatric surgery and its latest global advancements.
Dr. Taher and the medical team at the IMC’s Research Center have expressed their gratitude to Prof. Ezzeldin Ibrahim, Head of the Research Center, and Consultant Oncologist at IMC for his continuous support which contributed to the successful completion of the research projects.
It is worth mentioning that IFSO Global Meeting in Madrid, which has been held annually since 1995, is one of the largest global level conferences in this field, and that more than 3000 surgeons have participated this year from more than 90 countries.
